WATCH & LISTEN
What did our first band info say again? “The moment when the mime gets tripped up and lands with his face in the clown’s pie before he can throw it, that’s TRIXSI.”
Something like that, anyway. That’s actually true, except for the thing with the mime. TRIXSI are too loud for that. And the thing with the clown fits honestly also only to this Mechenbier, this front clown, this roaring stage brute.
TRIXSI are hard to put into words, but otherwise easy to grasp. Here happened no more and no less than the very normal Magic, which you can stir with a handful of friends in a pot called “band” just so. Here a little inventiveness and a lot of eye for what has already been accomplished and made sense with a high degree of creativity. Here tires are flattened instead of trying to reinvent wheels. Nobody is afraid or stressed here. The more so. Joy oozes from every pore and drips to the floor while the band members shake their heads in sync: About the state of this world, human interaction in general and the music industry in particular.
The band from Hamburg plays with the functional, trained moments of their previous, musical lives, as well as with the freedom that the omission of sound and thematic concepts such as HERRENMAGAZIN, FINDUS and LOVE A now makes possible. Suddenly you can think of WEEZER and the EAGLES while listening, while in the rehearsal room there are still some punk rock posters hanging on the wall. Allowed is what pleases. And here people like each other. One shouts cheers, all the others nod. Who the fuck is niezuvordagewesen? Where the fun stops with German rock music, TRIXSI just start. And it is to be feared that they are far from being finished. – Jörkk Mechenbier (meaning myself) for the band.
The really great second album by Paul Konopacka, Klaus Hoffmann, Kristian Kühl, König Wilhelmsburg and Jörkk Mechenbier aka Trixsi will be released on June 3 on Glitterhouse Records and goes by the modest name ‘… And You Will Know Us By The Grateful Dead ‘.
