The voice of David Bowie, the theatricality of Anthony Hegarty, that’s what we praise this music for.” – Rolling Stone

Story
“Unlearned” is a unique collection of (un)forgotten cover versions: The Australian singer-songwriter sings his favorite songs. Can you consciously forget what you once learned? For Scott Matthew, this album is about just that. “You have to forget the familiar in order to learn something new.” Matthew has always loved to sing songs of his favorite musicians, as encores at his concerts he always performs his “personal hit parade. “Unlearned” is a collection of these favorite songs. Songs like “Harvest Moon” (Neil Young), “No Surprises” (Radiohead), “To Love Somebody” (Bee Gees) and “Love Will Tear Us Apart” (Joy Division), all performed with Matthew’s heartbreaking voice and his trademark instrumentation of piano, strings and ukulele. “The challenge is,” says Scott Matthew, “forgetting your own preconceived notions about what these songs actually mean.”
