Story
PUSH is the successor to the album Collider, which was celebrated by fans and press alike: “As often as the record annoys you, you put it back on again. It is the dark, strange, aloof musical equivalent of Kafka’s most exhausting novel fragment “The Castle”” wrote Intro Magazine and hit the mark.
On PUSH the three-piece from Berlin and Melbourne continues to evolve their very own blend of Noise-Rock, Post-Punk and Alternative Rock. Upon the bands’ sprawling soundscape you’ll hear Ed Fraser’s voice preaching their message – experimental, wild, distinguished and radical, yet still catchy.
The album was produced in Berlin by Christoph Bartelt, Kadavar drummer. Mixing and mastering was done by Magnus Lindberg (Cult Of Luna). Guest musicians are Swans Lap Steel guitarist Kristof Hahn, Matthias Feit from Radare and Markus E. Lipka from Eisenvater.
“From beginning to end Push means distance, adaptation, change and connection. Each song tells a story all its own, about empty places, weather beats, toxic things. ” the band comments.“Push is in a way our ‘Berlin’ record, as for the first time in our band’s history we produced an album in Berlin, where we all lived at the time. Recorded with Christoph Bartelt of Kadavar, in their studio on the top floor of an old warehouse; we trekked every morning for several weeks across East Berlin past the factories, up the old dirty concrete stairs through a heavy steel door into a wood-paneled oasis of a unique studio where we worked on Push every day. Staying local had the great advantage that friends and guest musicians like Kristof Hahn from Swans could drop by to record on the record, and it also meant that the recording of Push went much faster for us. Magnus Lindberg from Cult Of Luna, who we’ve worked with many times before, mixed and mastered our sound even more precisely this time than ever before in Stockholm. There are more guests and more stories, and we’re excited to share them with you on Push!”
