Story
The singer-songwriter comes from Queensland, Australia and has lived in New York for many years. He describes himself as a “Quiet Noise Maker” with a great passion for ballads. In 2006, Scott Matthew became known to a wider audience thanks to several soundtrack contributions to the erotic drama SHORTBUS by director John Cameron Mitchell. However, fans of the Japanese animation series GHOST IN THE SHELL have already enjoyed his haunting voice. For the recording of his Christmas EP SILENT NIGHTS (2008), he invited his Australian friend and colleague SIA into the studio for a duet. Scott Matthew opened concerts for the current mega-star on her ‘Some People Have Real Problems’ tour in England and Australia. The gifted song poet has earned the highest respect among critics and fans alike. He writes and sings about the longing for and disappearance of love like hardly anyone else. In 2008, the musician joins Glitterhouse Records. In 2013, Scott Matthew released his personal hit parade with the cover album UNLEARNED. He recognized the emotional core in the most diverse songs and worked it out with so much love that it became clear from the first note that his cover versions were no longer foreign songs, but his very own, original material. He turns them into his songs. For example, Whitney Houston ‘s R&B smash ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody‘ was turned into a wonderful, piano-dominated ballad.
He released his album THIS HERE DEFEAT in 2016, followed by the dreamlike masterpiece LIFE IS LONG, which was recorded together with Portuguese composer RODRIGO LEAO, and his sixth studio album ODE TO OTHERS, 2020 ADORNED was released in 2018.
