Story
The singer-songwriter orinates from Queensland, Australia and has lived in New York for many years. He describes himself as a „quiet-noise-maker“ with a great passion for ballads. In 2006 Scott Matthew became known to a wider audience thanks to several soundtrack contributions to the erotic drama SHORTBUS by director John Cameron Mitchell. Fans of the Japanese animated series GHOST IN THE SHELL, however, have enjoyed his haunting voice before. For the recordings of his Christmas-EP SILENT NIGHTS (2008) he invited his Australian friend and colleague SIA for a duet in the studio. For today’s mega-star Scott Matthew was allowed to open England and Australia concerts of her ‚Some People Have Real Problems‘ tour. The gifted song poet has earned the highest respect among critics and fans alike. He writes and sings of the yearning and disappearance of love like few others. In 2013, Scott Matthew released his personal hit parade with the cover album UNLEARNED. In the most diverse songs he has recognized the emotional core in each case and worked out with so much love that from the first note it became clear that his cover versions are no longer foreign songs, but his very own, original material. He makes them his songs. For example, the R&B smash by Whitney Houston ‚I Wanna Dance With Somebody‘ became a wonderful, piano-dominated ballad.
The musician has been releasing on Glitterhouse Records since 2015. First THIS HERE DEFEAT, followed in 2016 by the dreamlike masterpiece LIFE IS LONG, recorded together with Portuguese composer RODRIGO LEAO. In 2018 the sixth studio album ODE TO OTHERS and in 2020 ADORNED was released.
